Not only is it one of our favourite times of the year (Half-Term!) but it’s also one of our favourite days — Pancake Day!
We flipping love Shrove Tuesday, and there’s no reason why it has to be too much of an unhealthy day for the children.
We’ve put together Sharky’s pancake recipe which can easily be added upon or changed to suit children’s tastes. Plus they only take around 10 minutes to whip up!
Sharky’s Pancake Ingredients:
- 300ml full-fat or semi-skimmed organic milk
- 2 Red Lion Stamped Free-Range Eggs
- 30g butter, melted in a pan
- 225g of plain flour
- 1 heaped tablespoon of baking powder
- Butter or coconut oil for cooking the pancakes
Chop up some fruit to add to your pancake creations. We recommend strawberries, blueberries and bananas.
Honey and/or Raspberry Jam
Pancakes Ideas
How to create your epic creation:
Firstly get everyone to wash their hands, and get the kids to mix all your ingredients into one big gloopy mix in a large bowl. Then get a whisk, and whisk whisk whisk until the batter is smooth!
Secondly: Now it’s time to get a medium-sized frying pan and melt some butter over a low — medium heat. When this is melted, then add a couple of teaspoons of batter into the pan and flatten it out in an even motion. Cook for around one minute on each side (when the pancakes start to bubble it’s time to flip them over.)
Thirdly: After both sides look ready, try and give them a flip! (Warning, it’s not uncommon for you to misjudge the flip leaving pancakes on either the ceiling, or more commonly the floor!)
Food time! Now it’s time to serve your Sharky pancakes. Place them on a hot plate to keep warmth, and dollop some honey and spread evenly. Now chop your banana in half to make a smiley face and place strawberries and blueberries as eyes!
HAPPY DAYS — Now dig in and repeat the steps until your full!
