We took over the stunning Kirby House and invited a select group of guests to experience the transformative power of play first-hand. What began as a glamorous soirée quickly unravelled into a world of secrets, scandal and suspense.
To create a fully immersive, story-led evening at Kirby House, that transformed a traditional drinks reception and dinner into a fully interactive experience. Guests would explore the stunning house, interact with characters and work together to solve a mystery, all while enjoying exceptional food, performance and atmosphere. The aim was to demonstrate how play can be used to elevate adult events into something far more memorable and engaging.
The idea was to create a truly exciting surprise moment that would pull guests into a narrative they weren’t expecting, setting the tone for the evening ahead.
Guests were invited to what appeared to be a wonderful formal dinner at Kirby House, with no mention of any foul play. When it comes to murder mystery events, we believe everyone should be free to enjoy the evening, without feeling pressure to perform or remember complex backstories. Instead, we designed an experience filled with unexpected moments, where everyone could relax, socialise and follow the story as it unfolded around them.
A cast of exceptional characters brought the intricate plot to life, woven through a series of engaging interactions. From cocktail making with a rather tipsy butler to breaking into the resident archivist’s locked chest to uncover a recently updated will, each moment was designed to surprise, entertain and draw guests deeper into the story.
As guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the early evening, the hostess, Lady Dorothy, welcomed everyone with a toast. Moments later, in a shocking twist, she dramatically collapsed at the top of the staircase and tumbled all the way down to the floor below… dead.
The mood shifted instantly. A flamboyant, Agatha Christie-style detective appeared to take charge, halting proceedings and turning the evening into a live investigation.
