A Beatles-themed 64th birthday party with a relaxed treasure hunt, lake clues, cocktails, duck herding and more at Heckfield Place. A grown-up adventure!
When one of our favourite clients told us he was turning 64 and wanted to celebrate with a weekend-long, Beatles-inspired adventure at Heckfield Place, we knew it had to be something really special. Not just a few games on the lawn, but a full-on, grown-up treasure hunt with a twist.
This was one special occasion that we loved planning.
Here’s what went down.
– Exclusive hire of one of the dreamiest country houses around.
– A passion for ancient trees and a love for The Beatles.
– 100 guests to entertain over the course of a chilled but adventure-filled weekend.
Our mission was to create a relaxed, self-led treasure hunt that encouraged guests to explore every nook and cranny of Heckfield’s incredible grounds. It needed to be low-key but full of character. Leisurely, but with plenty of joyful moments. And most importantly, it needed to feel entirely him.
With a love of all things leafy, we built a bespoke trail to help guests discover the ancient, towering trees that make Heckfield so magical. Some were hidden in plain sight, others revealed through clues on our interactive map, but all were worth the wander.
Because even the most relaxed explorers need a refreshment break. Guests shook, stirred and sipped their way to gaining points for their team.
One of the more civilised stations – until the cherry spitting started. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like, and yes, it got weirdly competitive.
Clues by canoe? Don’t mind if we do. This was part of the overall treasure hunt and a big hit for those who fancied a bit of a rowing adventure!
Unpredictable, ridiculous, and full of surprisingly strategic teamwork. The ducks were divas. The guests were determined. The results? Ducks in their pen!
To balance out the madness, we added a little zen. Think deep breaths, warm cedar-scented air, and a welcome pause before the next clue dropped.
A full-blown immersive challenge involving fake masterpieces, hidden clues, and dramatic reveals. Safe to say, the inner detectives came out.
This was guests digital compass, beautifully illustrated and custom-built to guide each team around the estate, unlocking challenges as they went.
Think fresh air, free roaming, proper mischief, and just the right amount of Beatles references. The weekend was relaxed and free-flowing, but still full of purpose and play. There was no rush, no pressure – just friends reconnecting, laughing, and seeing a very special place through the lens of a very special person.
The birthday boy was chuffed. Guests were glowing. And we were pretty pleased too.
Laid-back, playful and full of thoughtful detail, this was all about time well spent, together.
